The founding charter for the Valacirca guild

Though the Valar have punished Melkor by locking him in the Void, his influence is still felt. Sauron, greatest of his lieutenants, remains abroad in Arda.... Lord Elrond, in anticipation of the last conflicts with this servant, assembled a band of Rangers of the North and sent them ahead of the Nine Walkers to make safe the troublesome trails into the East.

Once their initial duty had been fulfilled, these scouts established an outpost on the edge of the Misty Mountains to watch over the Redhorn Pass: the hidden road to the West. Their fellowship grew in number and remains based there to this day: a band of dunedain Rangers that have been joined by like-minded elves, dwarves, and edain on a critical mission.

Despite a fixed outpost, the hardy group travels far and long to seek out Sauron's dark and secret places and destroy them; to destroy the twisted minions of the Enemy, made in mockery of Eru's work; to protect the lands of the Free that form their ancestral homes. They look to the night sky and see their sign of hope and victory in a formation of seven stars. They remember the meaning of this sign, shining in the memory and loss of the Two Trees and the fall of Melkor to come, and have taken it for their name: the Valacirca, the Sickle of the Valar.

[edit] History

Valacirca began as the "ranger guild" in 1996 when guilds and professions were intended to be linked. Their thematic focus still lies with the profession, being the non-Grey Company remainder of Aragorn's tribe: the Rangers of the North. Having expanded, they remain in continuous operation to this day, going on 12 years of age, making them Arda's second oldest guild still in existence.
