From "help steal":
Syntax: steal [little|some|half|much|all] gold from <victim>
steal <item|gold> from <victim>
This command allows you to attempt to steal gold or an item from someone else. If you attempt to steal gold, you may use an optional argument. These arguments help you determine how much gold you will get from your victim. Note that the more you try to take, the harder it is to succeed and the easier it is to be caught.
If you are the victim of theft, you can report the player who stole from you. (help playerstealing)
Stealing while hiding (using the hide command) may improve your chances of success and help you gain experience from thefts.
