There first self-proclaimed Riot ER was Pau, whom had it in his legend info (A rEvOlting VariAG! RioT ERs!). Of course there were other ER x ER kills before him, but most for tests (during the playtesting time) and for personnal vendetta. Pau was a level 10 sniffer, and started killing the first AotWU lowbies. When Lyssara, whom had just became a Warlord for the AotWU, noticed bounties were not an effective system, she got a party to kill Pau, and then the other First Riots showed up: Canalha, Kalamar and Skol, together with Pau, backhunted the AotWU party and killed them, but they lost Skol and Pau in the battle. Burgul, the bounty-hunter, ex-commander of the Durbatuluk and ex-commander of the AotWU, joined their team shortly after this, and his partnership with Tarkus granted many victories for the Riot cause. Eventually, other ERs/Servants were tagged by the majority as 'Riots' for their similar activities, but the First Riots never recognized them as one of their group, and treated them like they did to the rest of the ER population. With the advent of the Global Lawsys, the Riots stopped their routine, Burgul and Tarkus suicided after their last kill, on Cozoq.

The Riot ERs, mainly Burgul and Tarkus (since they were, by far, the most active), managed to log on in privacy, and quickly rented an innroom. From their innroom they could coordinate their attacks, by having a wizard or necromancer friend run a find/sense on their target. Then they would camouflage, and attack the victim. After the battle, the Riot ER would quickly run back to his or her innroom, brag about the kill (their motto was: If you wanna riot, don't riot a white horse) and logout, in order to escape retaliation from other (real) legions, such as Durbatuluk, Burzgul or AotWU. Using this blitzkrieg method, they were rarely caught.
No one is sure why Riot ERs acted this way. Many believe that with the lack of the lawsystem for ERs at that time, combined with the fairly new areas, these Rioters found it amusing to kill players with less experience than themselves and get away with it, without being reported.
