The former capitol of the Kingdom of Gondor lays now in ruins and are overrun by the hosts of Mordor. Known in sindarin as the Citadel of the Host of Stars, named so after the large Doom of Stars, that lay in the hearth of the capitol, where within the Palantir of Osgiliath was kept.
Once founded by Elendili and his sons Isildur and Anarion in the end of the 2nd age, spread out on both sides of the Great River Anduin. Divided by the South Road, that crosses the Great River Anduin and passes from Minas Tirith to Minas Morgul.
Once a marvel to look upon, then during the Kin-strife it suffered great losses that caused it to not fully recover before it was struck again and this time by the Great Plague, which sadly caused it to become more deserted, as more and more fled to Minas Tirith. This caused the ones so magnificent capitol to fall into ruins. Due to these events, it was decided to move the capitol to Minas Tirith. Not much later, its remaining population became refugees due to the Uruks that occupied the city. Due to these events, Osgiliath is now seen as a hazardous area to travel in, the bridges has been rebuilt, thus this enables travelling through the town, for those who dares entering through it and for those who are allied with Mordor.
