[edit] MUD Definition
From "help edain":
Edain is the elvish word for men. They entered Middle-earth in the First Age, and are considered the average race on The Two Towers. They aren't as strong as a Dwarf, but they are stronger than a Hobbit. They aren't as quick and elusive as an Elf, but they are faster than an Orc. If you want to make a character that knows a little bit about a lot of different things then this is your best choice, but if you want a specialized character that is really good at one particular profession, then this probably isn't the best choice. Edain are a good race for first timers, because you can test out lots of different things.
[edit] Edain Extended
As the generic Mannish race of T2T, Edain could be a lot of things. A man of Bree, for example, would be an Adan, as would a Woodman or a Beorning or someone from Laketown or Framsburg or Dale. Some of these populations have NPC races, but this PC race encompasses them all. Easterlings, on the other hand, are of different lineage and aren't represented.
