Quests are the main way of obtaining gear, aside from buying it. Some are quite simple: find an NPC and kill it, then take its loot, etcetera. These are sometimes not even referred to as quests. Others are intricate and time-consuming. A few quests can only be done once in a character's lifetime.

At levels 4, 9, 14, and 18 characters must perform such a quest in order to advance to the next level. Information regarding these quests has traditionally been more strictly controlled than other ones.
