From "help bank":
There are nine banks throughout Arda that will hold gold for you. At each bank, after opening an account, you can 'deposit' gold, 'withdraw' gold (the bank will take 5% of the withdrawn gold as fees for its services), 'transfer' gold from another bank to the bank you are in (again, with a 5% fee), or check your balance at that bank and all other banks you have an account at. Each bank can hold up to 50,000 gold pieces. You will never earn any sort of interest from these banks, as they are made to hold your money in a safe place, free from brigands and thieves. That is also the reason they take such a huge percentage (5%) in all transactions performed. Their job isn't cheap, you know!
