Got this today and went to install and got a .cab error, looked it up online and tons of other people are having the same problem due to defective DVDs. Anyone else pick this one up?

I got the special edition and it runs just fine. The discs where out of the holders where I opened it up and surprisingly no scratches. That sucls to hear that you had problems with it. If they are defective discs I guess return it for new one right?

You got it working yet skull? I just got the part with the Aliens and I turned it off because its late and I didn't want to start discovering stuff because I'll be up until 3 then 
I took a few more shots to taunt you with Skull. I fired up the demo version tonight to tweak the control files into thinking I have direct x 10. I'd say it was a success! I am now getting blur effects and light rays. I'm gonna make the same changes on the retail version tomorrow night.

Naw, I exchanged my copy yesterday with no success so it might be my location got a bad batch of DVDs. I emailed EA warrenty service so I should be getting a message back soon.

Cool man. Let us know when you end up getting it installed and how it runs. I have done tons of tweaking to get the game to run smooth and look better and I can give you some pointers if you are running on DX9 XP.
I also started modding the game a bit and if you are in to more realism let me know because I can send you some files to make bullets do more damage to both you and the enemies. I also messed around with the suit values but it gets a little insane. I made a change when using the speed suit that you run so fast you will catch air and leap hundreds of yards. So that’s still in the works but the realism mod is pretty damn awesome. It’s like playing out in the jungle with rainbow six health.

As soon as I get my 8800 in the mail(sent my old GTS in to upgrade to the GT) Ill be playing this. If anyones still playin this online list w/e servers you play on.

so bumping this back up because i bought the 3 disk pack that comes with the first crysis the second on and the online game of it.
anyone else play this at all? Also my comp should be able to run at full detail but it won't let me select full detail  but i haven't patched the game up so going to do that tonight and see if it changes.

What type of system do you have? This game kills pretty much everything I have ever run it on. I have yet to see this game ever run at full detail and still play smooth.
If you are still struggling to see those ultra settings (greyed out) you just really need to answer 1 question. Are you on Vista? If not then the answer is that you can't run those settings as they are Direct x 10 only settings. Officially that is. If you do some research in how to configure some of the local files you can trick the game into allowing the settings. DX10 was never really required. They just made it that way. MS probably paid them to do it :\

i am running it on windows 7 and the comp is on is more then able of run it. I'm playing crysis wars right now, it is crysis warhead's online version and there I have everything maxed it might just be something with the first game. ill play with compatibly modes when i get home

ok so i ran it in dx 10 and yep that fixed it i can play on very high only problem no one plays crysis any more they play crysis wars now
