You dizzily awaken to an aching pain throughout your body... Your
eyes sting, but you manage to look around. It appears that you are
wrapped in many webs. In fact, it looks like you are in a large nest of
webs. You think you see some bodies in the nest, but you still feel
dizzy and can't be sure... Your whole body feels cold, and you try to
gasp for air, but you just can't seem to breathe. Your stomach hurts a
lot. Looking down, you see two gaping, but not bloody, holes in your
abdomen... To your horror, you realize that your insides have been
sucked out!!! Your vision starts to grow dark...You can't manage to
keep your eyes open any longer... Darkness descends upon you.
You can feel the hatred as it surrounds you. You can almost feel it
slowly seeping into the pores of your skin. The walls of the tunnel feel
smooth and worn, and the floor appears to be sloping gently. A
weighty, pregnant silence lays an almost tangible hand upon your soul,
gradually isolating you from life and warmth. You strain your senses
to the full, trying to locate some movement or sound in this sink of
eternal darkness.
The Spider had already claimed most of the group at least once before.
This was supposed to be payback time. They started with twenty but by
the time this story begins, there were fewer.

Galthor, Paladinz,Rinoa, Roku, Connor, Adunazon, Theodrek, Redival,
Anathema, Nyssa, Nichodemus, Gallor, and Kelias have aready paid
with their lives.
Whether brave or fool hardy, Peesho, Trempk, Shachmir, Darknova ,
Newcomer, Gazza and Pounder have faced the spider before and died
trying to kill it. Now they were back.
Trempk begins shielding Pounder and the group begins its attack. The
only ones to land a blow were Deathrider, who smashes Shelob with a
bone-shattering impact and Melfice stabs her. Pounder feints but
misses Shelob with the stroke. Gazza nearly decapitates Shelob. Ketan
is too busy to attack. Everyone else missed. Trempk shields Pounder,
and takes damage as she gnaws on Pounder. Ketan has been poisoned
and is sick, and very disoriented.
The Spider leaves, down the tunnel with the party in pursuit.
Ketan has 182 hp. Pounder stabs Shelob causing a nasty puncture
wound as Gazza grins evilly and drives the blade into Shelob's
midsection. Newcomer misses as does everyone else. Shelob barely
misses Deathrider with poison-tinged fangs.
Peesho, Darknova and Celexa catch up to the group.
The coppery smell of blood permeates the air. Hatred surrounds you,
seeping into the pores of your skin. Shoulder to shoulder, blocking the
tunnel from side to side are, Celexa, Darknova ,Peesho , Pounder ,
Newcomer,Melfice,Gazza ,Lanka,Wind,Deathrider,Trempk, Shachmir
Mortigan, and Ketan This is the last time they will all be together.
Wind hits Shelob hard. Mortigan strikes Shelob in an upward blow.
Melfice thrusts the rapier deeply into Shelob. Gazza cries out in battle-
glory and slides the blade through Shelob. Ketan is vomiting.
Newcomer hits Shelob. Shelob barely misses Melfice with poison-
tinged fangs but manages to pound Shachmir with her claw!
Newcomer and Mortigan nearly collide as they smash their heads into
her eyes. Seemingly uninjured, she hisses at them.
Ketan yells, "ALL EAST" just as Anathema enters.
The running fight continues for several more rooms, always following
the spider which appears to be heading for its lair.. Shelob barely
misses Pounder with poison-tinged fangs. Shelob blasts Anathema
with a powerful blow! Shelob plunges deep into Wind, drawing forth
gouts of blood! Shelob has many wounds on her body and two spare
legs.
Darkness surrounds you. This is the heart of Shelob's domain. Vast
walls of grey granite tower above you coated with thick drapings of
spiderwebs which swing softly in response to unseen vibrations.
Mounds of slowly decaying weapons and armour lie half uncovered
amidst the disgusting dark layers of blood, flesh, and soil which have
gradually formed to make a squelching floor of sorts. A stench of rot
and death pervades the dust filled air, and looking up you see strange
shapes hanging from the ceiling, bundled in Shelob's spinnings. A
thick strand of web reaches down from the shadows above you, to
almost touch the floor.
Mortigan starts to hurry across the ledge, but loses his footing and
falls! Ketan also falls. He shouts, RUN ACROSS THE LEDGES.
Peesho hits the ground with a CRACK! Ketan and Mortigan join
Shachmir who has already fallen from the ledge. Shachmir recovered
enough to grab a crystal which starts to glow brightly. Darknova
convulses violently.
Trempk ,Newcomer ,Darknova ,and Celexa are still on the ledge. While
still in sight, the party has been split in two. There is an unimaginable
pile of equipment here, the weapons and armour of those who died
before. There is no sign of Shelob. She just disappeared. Everyone
takes a second to heal, eating pastry and drinking from small silvered
potion bottles. Ketan is still suffering from poison.
By now, most of the group has jumped from the ledge to join
Ketan in the bottom of the lair.
Pounder mutters something obscene and looks around . He is the last
one left on the ledge above. Ketan yells, "Run across the ledge until
you fall!" Peesho roots through the pile of equipment and puts on a
bloodstained cloak and a dwarven mask. He also wears a dwarven war
shield.
A long, desperate scream echoes from the caves beyond the ledge.
They look around and realize that Gazza isn't with them.
Gazza tells you: she's focusing me!
Ketan has 218 hp Wind closes a metal flask. Fresh! Thanks to
Aramyss!!! Someone yells, I am screwed! You go, "UGH!".
Ketan can't see a thing and asks for light.
Ketan tells Gazza: Get to the ledge!
Shelob climbs in from above carrying a web-wrapped bundle.
Deathrider screams: "Help!" Shelob east a bundle of webbing and the
ghost of Deathrider shimmers into sight. Gazza is above now, standing
on the ledge.
Vast walls of grey granite tower above you're coated with thick

party.
One of the shapes hanging from the ceiling was wiggling but its actions
slow and finally stop. A thick strand of web reaches down from the
shadows above you to the floor.
The ghost of Deathrider shimmers into view as the spider finishes its meal. Ketan climbs partway up the wall, clinging to the webs for hand holds.
someone above says: help!
someone pleads for help!
The cries for help move away, seeming to become weaker.
Shachmir climbs up the wall, and onto the ledge.
A stench of rot and death pervades the dust filled air. Lanka, Pounder
Wind ,Trempk, Newcomer, Darknova, Celexa, Peesho, Mortigan,
Shachmir, and Ketan are here. There are fewer now. Nobody knows
where Gazza has gone.
Ketan claws at the walls, trying to climb back to the ledge. His fingers
are bleeding. He is still dizzy and light headed but he manages to get to
the ledge again. He reaches for his pack, only then realizing that the
pack and any healing he may have had in it is out of reach below.
The ledge is small, made from a recess into the stone near the ceiling of
this huge cave. All around are the rotting corpses of Shelob's recent
victims. Legs, arms, and heads are scattered across the floor below, the
flesh looking saggy as if the juices have been slowly sucked out.
Within reach, you can see bundles of several other unfortunates,
wrapped in web and hung from the ceiling to mature. The most recent
is that of Deathrider. By now, all that is left of Gazza is a ghost.
Newcomer gets Morimacil, the dark sword. Darknova asks: Climb wall?
Trempk starts to climb down again, but slips off the wall! Pounder
climbs off of the ledge, and down the wall. Suddenly Shelob climbs in
from above. Wind drops a spent crystal and attacks. Your body freezes
from fear as the blade of Newcomer's sword gives off a reddish glow.
Newcomer wields his Morimacil.
Shelob climbs down a little, her many eyes seem to be focusing on
Pounder who ducks away, to the north, followed by Deathrider's ghost.
Ketan yells at Pounder: GET BACK HERE!
Pounder enters, pursued by Shelob. Pounder feints but misses Shelob
with the stroke. Newcomer cries out in battle-glory and slides the blade
through Shelob. Shelob sinks her fangs into Celexa. Shelob pounds
Lanka with her claw! Wind, Celexa and Lanka miss. Pounder leaves
north with the huge spider right behind him.
Celexa pulls a dwarven deathmask onto his head and seems to become
more threatening. Pounder runs back in, slashing at Shelob. Shelob
barely misses Newcomer with poison-tinged fangs. Mortigan whips his
elven short sword from his baldric with a whisk of menace! Mortigan
wields an elven short sword as wind tries to climb back up the wall.
Celexa smashes Shelob with a bone-shattering impact. The sound of
battle from the north where Pouder disappeared, suddenly ceases.
Shelob enters and chomps Lanka while smashing Celexa with her
claws. Ketan calls after Pounder but there is no answer. Celexa escapes
up the wall to the ledge. Shelob climbs up a little following Celexa.
The group has been divided again between the floor of the cave and a
small ledge made from a recess into the stone near the ceiling.
Shelob, spider of darkness, is on the ledge.
Shachmir bashes Shelob with a magnificent full arched swing!! Shelob
stings Ketan with a fang which drips poison! He counterattacks. Wind,
Darknova, Celexa, Shachmir and Peesho are on the ledge. Trempk,
Newcomer, Lanka and Mortigan are still below.
Ketan stabs Shelob in the abdomen. Shelob smashes Wind with
devastating force. Shachmir ask for help as Wind misses. Shachmir
PIERCES Shelob with BONE CHILLING BLADES OF ICE!!! Ketan
is suffering from poison again. Shelob has some slashes and cuts.
She still has two spare legs.
Shelob impales Darknova with her poisonous fangs but misses Ketan
with her sharp claw. Shelob grabs Darknova with the claw on her leg.
Ketan feels dizzy and light headed. Wind falls off the ledge, hitting the
ground with a CRACK! Shachmir PIERCES Shelob with BONE
CHILLING BLADES OF ICE!!! Lanka leaves north from the bottom
of the cave. Ketan gets a good, clean hit on Shelob but Shachmir
misses. Darknova convulses violently. Peesho yells ATTACK as
Wind grins up at him from below. Shelob blasts Darknova and
Shachmir with a powerful blows from her claws. Ketan, who is down
to 205 hp again, yells, "CLIMB UP. KILL SHELOB!"
Darknova convulses violently. Shelob plunges her fangs deeply into
Ketan, drawing forth gouts of blood! Darknova collapses and falls
from the ledge. Trempk climbs up the wall, and to the ledge.
Wind inflicts massive damage to Shelob. Celexa and Trempk miss.
Shachmir bashes Shelob with a magnificent full arched swing!! Ketan
shouts, "SHE'S KILLING US!" He's down to 176 hp. Shelob smashes
Wind with devastating force. Darknova convulses violently on the floor
below. Shelob has many wounds on her body and two spare legs.
Mortigan is sorting though the weapons on the cave floor, trying one
then another. He drops an elven short sword. Above, the fight
continues with Trempk and Shachmir inflicting massive damage to
Shelob. Shelob stings Wind with a fang which drips poison and pounds
Celexa with her claw! She then snatches Trempk with a razor-edged
claw. Celexa goes crazy and headbutts her.
Darknova gets a small vial labeled 'Manwe'. Wind starts to climb down,
but slips off the wall!
Shelob bites Celexa. Trempk shields Shachmir, Shelob hits Trempk
hard. Shelob snatches Shachmir with a razor-edged claw. Wind and
Mortigan climb the wall to the ledge. Darknova leaves north. Lanka
says: damn you bitch! Shachmir slams Shelob back with a frenzied
charge! Newcomer nearly decapitates Shelob. Shelob barely misses
Newcomer with poison-tinged fangs. Trempk starts shielding Ketan
who takes damage when Shelob hits Trempk.
Shelob stings Mortigan with a fang which drips poison! Celexa says:
Run! Shelob inflicts massive damage to Trempk. Shelob slices Ketan ,
who is now has 113 hp, with a blow from her leg.
Celexa ask for help. Celexa smashes Shelob with a bone-shattering
impact. Newcomer severs the sinews of Shelob's torso. Trempk shields
Ketan, and Shelob massacres Trempk with incredible force! Shelob
gnaws Ketan. Shachmir shields Wind, Shelob hits Shachmir hard. Shelob
snatches Wind with a razor-edged claw.
Ketan vomits and looks disoriented. He quits protecting anyone.
Wind critically hits Shelob with decimating force. Shelob has many
wounds on her body but she still has two spare legs.
Shachmir MANGLES Shelob with MULTIPLE BLOWS to the body!!
Shelob sinks her fangs into Lanka. Lanka misses Shelob.
Shelob bites Shachmir. Shelob snatches Shachmir with a razor-edged
claw. Shelob climbs up a little and pounds Mortigan with her claw!
Shelob slices Trempk with a blow from her leg. Celexa climbs down to
the floor of the cave and gets a large meat filled pasty from a large
harvester's pack. Celexa slowly eats the pasty enjoying every bite.
Above, battle continues. Shachmir who is near death, stops protecting
Ketan. Shelob wraps someone in a web, and carries it. Melfice left your
party. The ghost of Melfice shimmers into sight. Another party member
down. Ketan tells Adunazon to climb up on the ledge. Shachmir says:
We stay here 'til she dies!
Shelob chomps Adunazon. Shelob smashes Lanka with devastating
force. Shelob misses Adunazon with her sharp claw. Lanka nods.
Trempk misses Shelob. Lanka misses Shelob. Mortigan misses Shelob.
Adunazon misses Shelob. Peesho climbs up the wall, onto the
ledge. Ketan cheers for Adunazon: You're here!
Lanka says: Fight until the end! Shachmir slams Shelob back with a
frenzied charge! Shelob barely misses Adunazon with poison-tinged
fangs. Shelob blasts Mortigan with a powerful blow! Shelob misses
Trempk with her sharp claw. Shelob is covered with gaping wounds
and has only two spare legs!
Adunazon says: DIE! Lanka hurts his neck attacking Shelob! Wind
misses Shelob. Lanka gets a wild look in his eyes, then smashes his
head into Shelob!
Lanka zaps Shelob with a staggering shockwave. Adunazon knocks
Shelob off balance with a hard swing to the body. Ketan stabs Shelob
in the abdomen. Shelob sinks her fangs into Lanka. Shelob plunges
deep into Wind, drawing forth gouts of blood!
Shelob quickly wraps up someone in a web and carries it to the wall
where she hangs it. She returns and stings Trempk with a fang which
drips poison! Shelob returns to the wall and eats a bundle of webbing.
The ghost of Mortigan shimmers into sight. Another fighter down.
The party is now to Shachmir, Peesho, Wind, Adunazon, Newcomer,
Darknova, Trempk, Celexa, Lanka, and Ketan.
Newcomer climbs up the wall, on to the ledge. Wind misses
Shelob. Celexa smacks Shelob. Adunazon bashes Shelob with a
magnificent full arched swing!! Ketan and Peesho hit Shelob hard.
Shelob sinks her fangs into Adunazon.
Ketan opens a silver flask. The miruvor is cool and sweet. He closes the
flask. His health is now back up to 116.
Shelob wraps up another of your party and hurries to the wall to
drain him. She eats a bundle of webbing. The ghost of Darknova
shimmers into sight. Now there are nine.
Shachmir says: Help me!
Shelob climbs down a little. All around you lie the rotting corpses of

Trempk hits Shelob. Lanka misses Shelob. Shelob sinks her fangs into
Trempk. Ketan says: I'm down. Ugh! Shelob pounds Lanka with her
claw! Trempk convulses violently. Newcomer gets a silver flask from
a bloodstained cloak. Ketan says he is out of EP.
Mortigan looks at Shelob. Lanka drinks something from a black flask.
Shelob has only one limb with which to defend herself! Three stumps
project from her huge, bloated body. From these she once had three
proud legs! Though you suspect her body is still intact and healthy, you
feel elated that she might become vanquished! Ketan thinks to himself,
"One more leg, that's all I need for now. Then mayhap I rest". You
hope you can make good on your promise to yourself.
Shelob sinks her fangs into Wind. Trempk convulses violently.
Adunazon misses Shelob. Shelob gnaws Lanka. Ketan opens a flask
and drinks, gagging on whatever was in it. Shelob chomps Adunazon.
Shelob slices Celexa with a blow from her leg. Adunazon convulses
violently! Lanka climbs off of the ledge, and down the wall.
Newcomer severs some sinews of Shelob's torso. Shelob barely misses
Newcomer with poison-tinged fangs. Shelob slices Adunazon with a
blow from her leg. Shelob is covered with gaping wounds and has but
a single spare leg!
Newcomer says: Damnit! He just tired to drink a healing potion but was
too full. Newcomer nearly decapitates Shelob. Shelob impales
Adunazon with her poisonous fangs and smashes Adunazon with
devastating force. Trempk convulses violently. Shelob gnaws
Adunazon while blasting him with a powerful blow!
Trempk misses Shelob. Adunazon is bleeding to death and needs to be
bandaged! Shelob impales Adunazon with her poisonous fangs! She
smashes Adunazon with devastating force. Trempk convulses
violently. Shelob crushes Adunazon with a great blow, pulling out his
entrails! Adunazon died. Ketan tries, to late, to bandage Adunazon.

leg is whacked off, falling to the ground, twitching. Ketan slices Shelob
cleanly. Shachmir misses Shelob. Shelob barely misses Ketan with
poison-tinged fangs.
Shelob sinks her fangs into Ketan. Lanka gets the ice staff of
Ulkhalad from Corpse of Adunazon. A chill wind blows from the east
as Lanka wields the ice staff! Ketan shouts: NO LEGS!
Shachmir nods. Trempk misses Shelob. Ketan stabs Shelob in the
abdomen. Celexa climbs up the wall, and on to the ledge.
Lanka says: DIE BITCH!!! Celexa hurts his neck attacking Shelob!
Shelob stings Ketan with a fang which drips poison! Peesho climbs up
the wall, to the ledge.
Shachmir says: She's dying! Wind drinks something from a metal flask
and dry heaves! Ketan appears dizzy and light headed.
Trempk convulses violently. Shachmir begins protecting Ketan. The
leg stops twitching and starts to decay. Shelob sinks her fangs into
Wind. Newcomer has 91 hp.
Lanka gobbles down the dog flesh, and blood spurts from the corpse!
Shelob impales Celexa with her poisonous fangs! Wind has 115 hp.
Ketan has 137 hp. Shelob impales Wind with her poisonous fangs!
Ketan begins to protect Newcomer.
Wind hits Shelob very hard. Celexa bruises Shelob deeply. Shachmir
slams Shelob back with a frenzied charge! Shelob sinks her fangs into
Wind. Mortigan looks at Shelob.
Celexa smashes Shelob with a bone-shattering impact. Shelob gnaws
Celexa. Wind starts to climb down, but slips off the wall!
Ketan says: She's going down!
Shachmir has 171 hp. He PIERCES Shelob with BONE CHILLING
BLADES OF ICE!!! Peesho grazes Shelob. Wind convulses violently.
Wind hits the ground with a CRACK! Lanka looks at Shelob.
Shachmir says: She's dead! Trempk hits Shelob. Celexa brushes
Ketan cleanly slices Shelob. Shachmir slams Shelob back with a
frenzied charge! Wind drinks from a black flask. Celexa smashes
Shelob with a bone-shattering impact. Trempk misses.
Shelob gnaws Celexa. Trempk seems confused, Am I wrapped in
webs? Ketan stabs Shelob in the abdomen. Shachmir misses Shelob.
Peesho misses Shelob. Shelob barely misses Ketan with poison-tinged
fangs. Shelob sinks her fangs into Shachmir. Ketan tries to bandage
Trempk. Trempk doesn't look so great but doesn't need bandaging.
Celexa deals a crushing blow to Shelob. Trempk hits Shelob. Shachmir
tells Ketan: Make sure (Trempk is okay).
Shachmir slams Shelob back with a frenzied charge! Shelob barely
misses Shachmir with poison-tinged fangs. Wind says: God damn it!
He has 72 hp. Shachmir crunches Shelob's bones with a direct lunge
to the body!! Shelob barely misses Celexa with poison-tinged fangs.
Ketan slices Shelob cleanly with the sapphire sword. Shachmir bashes
Shelob with a magnificent full arched swing!! Newcomer gets an
empty mug and several blueberry tarts from a harvester pack before
dropping the pack on the huge pile of equipment on the lair floor.
Shelob sinks her fangs into Shachmir. Trempk grazes Shelob. Shelob
impales Ketan with her poisonous fangs! Ketan tries to get to a pack for
healing but he can't reach it. He has 126 hp. Shachmir shields Ketan.
Shachmir slams Shelob back with a frenzied charge! Shelob hits
Shachmir very hard. Shelob chomps Ketan. Celexa deals a crushing
blow to Shelob. Ketan slices Shelob cleanly. Shachmir crunches
Shelob's bones with a direct lunge to the body!! Ketan is starting to
vomit and seems very disoriented. He convulse violently. He tries
desparately to reach a pack, but fails.
Trempk hits Shelob. Shachmir PIERCES Shelob with BONE
CHILLING BLADES OF ICE!!! Trempk and Ketan are both poisoned
and they convulse violently. Shachmir is shielding Ketan, and Shelob
inflicts massive damage to Shachmir as she chomps Ketan. Ketan,
on his knees, stops protecting anyone.
Trempk has 65 hp: Shelob gnaws Shachmir and he loses his footing.
He stops shielding Ketan. Trempk smirks in amusement. He says:
Shelob is now covered with gaping wounds and lacks any spare legs!
Shachmir has 114 hp: Shelob impales Shachmir with her poisonous
fangs! Ketan convulses violently. Celexa smacks Shelob. Trempk hits
Shelob very hard. Shelob stings Shachmir with a fang which drips
poison! Celexa smashes Shelob with a bone-shattering impact.
Wind has 74 hp. Shelob gnaws Shachmir. Shachmir says: I can't climb
down Wind says: shit ! Trempk says: me neither
Shachmir says: She has to die! Peesho misses as Shelob chomps
Shachmir. Shachmir says: Bitch! Shelob sinks her fangs into Shachmir.
Ketan screams: DIE! DIE! DIE!
Lanka has gone net-dead. Ketan shields Shachmir, and Shelob grazes
him. He then hits Shelob with the flat of the blade as she bites
Shachmir. Ketan says NC, get up here man!
Celexa deals a crushing blow but everyone else misses. Ketan
is shielding Shachmir, and Shelob bites him. He is down to 86 hp.
Newcomer has 178 hp. Trempk hits Shelob hard. Wind drinks
something from a metal flask and dry heaves! Celexa drinks from a
silver flask. Celexa bruises Shelob deeply. Ketan continues to shield
Shachmir, but Shelob bites him again. Shachmir grunts: Bye!
Ketan slices Shelob cleanly. Shachmir is bleeding to death and needs
to be bandaged! Ketan is shielding Shachmir, and Shelob chomps
Shachmir. Ketan shouts: SOMEONE PROTECT SHACHMIR!

with a fang which drips poison! Celexa gets a wild look in his eyes,
then smashes his head into Shelob! Lanka has reconnected.
Celexa critically hits Shelob smashing bones.

Shelob shrieks in pain as you pierce her thick hide. Ooze drips from her
wounds and she begins a high-pitched keening which shatters your
senses. Shelob begins to flail about, making you dash for safety.
Suddenly with a hideous spiteful cackle she rushes at you! This time
she doesn't stop to fight but flings you aside and you hear a skittering
and scraping as she flees. She disappears from sight, but a terrible high
pitched scream issues from someplace deep in her lair. Her cries fade...
...echo for a moment... ...and then all is quiet.
[Note: While Trempk seems to have struck the last blow, it is probable
that Shelob was in negative hp before this. Ainur tell me that all logs
indicate that Ketan killed the spider. Draugluin confirmed that only the
person who killed Shelob would see the dying shriek shown above.]
Celexa laughs MUHAHAHA.

Trempk roars loudly!
You are on a small ledge made from a recess into the stone near the
ceiling of this huge cave. All around you lie the rotting corpses of
Shelob's recent victims. Legs, arms, and heads are scattered across the
floor below, the flesh looking saggy as if the juices have been slowly
sucked out. Within reach, you can see bundles of several other
unfortunates, wrapped in web and hung from the ceiling to mature.

Ketan convulses and tries not to vomit. He has 71 hp.
SHELOB IS DEAD
Of the twenty that entered the cavern, Celexa, Trempk,
Newcomer, Lanka, Wind, and Peesho survived.
This group ended the first incarnation of Shelob. It should stand
as a tribute to the skill and bravery of all of those who died
fighting one of the oldest and most evil creatures in Arda.

long awaited area of Cirith Ungol!
"There agelong she had dwelt, an evil thing in spider-form,
even such as once of old had lived in the Land of the Elves
in the West that is now under the Sea, such as Beren fought
in the Mountains of Terror in Doriath, and so came to
Luthien upon the green sward amid the hemlocks in the
moonlight long ago. How Shelob came there, flying from
ruin, no tale tells, for out of the Dark Years few tales have
come. But still she was there, who was there before Sauron,
and before the first stone of Barad-dur; and she served none
but herself, drinking the blood of Elves and Men, bloated
and grown fat with endless brooding on her feasts, weaving
webs of shadow; for all living things were her food, and her
vomit darkness. Far and wide her lesser broods, bastards of
the miserable mates, her own grown offspring, that she slew, spread
from glen to glen, from the Ephel Duath to the eastern hills,
to Dol Guldor and the fastness of Mirkwood. But none
could rival her, Shelob the Great, last child of Ungoliant to
trouble the unhappy world."
As the dark shadow strengthens, boldly entering Mordor
grows ever more risky for the undeserving. Rumours abound
however about a seldom travelled, little known route
through the Ephel Duath Mountain chain into the barren
heart of the Nameless Land. The tales tell of an arduous
trek up crumbling, twisting steps; of malice, alien yet
intelligent; of dark inky caverns filled with horror, echoing
with the dying screams of the damned. Beyond the black
labryinth lies a further challenge. This one of orcs and
steel, for guarding the pass into Mordor, is the fortress
of Cirith Ungol. Built by the power of Gondor in a bygone
age, and now turned to a darker purpose by the minions
of the Dark Lord...
Be wary, fair traveller. Adventure and deeds of great glory
await you on this path. Yet, the bones of the noble and great,
are said to litter these dusty corridors alongside those
of the mean and low. Riches and wonders unknown await the
hardy yet cunning adventurer, but be warned...
